Salix wolfii - Wolf's Willow 
                  
                  Native to the Rocky Mountains of Canada and the US, Wolf's 
                    willow is a carefree shrub for small to medium-size gardens. 
                    Our unpruned eight year old shrub is just 2m (6.5') tall. 
                    The numerous delicate dark-red twigs that populate the upper 
                    part of the plant, are quite noticeable during the winter 
                    months.
                  Prune only to shape the plant.
                  Description: 3-5m (10'-16'); open multi-branched 
                    shrub; dark red annual growth changing to gray by the second 
                    year; small, narrow, dark green leaves; slow grower
                   
                  Ideal conditions: full sun to dappled shade; 
                    water during dry periods; found in nature along streams and 
                    in low, moist areas; can take constantly wet heavy soil; tolerates 
                    poor soil
                  Uses: steambank erosion control; ornamental 
                    (delicate branches add winter interest); fall colour
