Salix purpurea ssp lambertiana
Salix purpurea can be broadly divided
into two distinct leaf forms. Some have narrow
leaves and are widely distributed throughout Europe.
Others have ovate leaves and are found in Britain.
This clone has broad leaves and is one of Britain's
                                best ornamental willows and is
                                also excellent for basket-making.

                              Very similar to S.
                                purpurea 'Eugenii'.
According to Christopher Newsholme in the book
Willow: The Genus Salix, Salix purpurea is
bitter and unpalatable to livestock and rabbits.
