Salix purpurea 'Pendula'   
                  
                              Leave 'Pendula' to grow as an attractive arching 
                                shrub or train it as a small weeping willow by 
                                removing the lower buds. Or it can be grafted 
                                onto rootstock that is 2-2.5 m (6-8') tall. This 
                                results in a miniature weeping willow for very 
                                small gardens. 
                              According to Christopher Newsholme in the book 
                                Willow: The Genus Salix, Salix purpurea is 
                                bitter and unpalatable to livestock and rabbits.
