Salix rigida 'American McKay'
'American McKay' is a clone selected for use
in basket making. Naturalized
in British Columbia and widely distributed throughout
North America, this attractive willow is best
used in a garden situation by trimming off the
lateral shoots. When grown in its natural habitat
along the streamside, the beautiful shiny foliage
and branches are an attractive feature.

growth; prone to lateral layering; attractive

habitat is river banks and sand bars; prune for utility
