Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' - Elijah's Blue Fescue

This is one of the bluest of the blue fescues. The hot dry summers of the British Columbia Interior will not drain any colour from Elijah Blue fescue. Try growing it indoors with Rex begonias.

Description: cool season; clump forming
Foliage is powder blue; leaves are narrow; 10-20 cm (4-8") in height
Flowers are sparse; blooms in May through June; 15-25 cm (6-10") tall

Ideal conditions: full sun or part shade; average, well-drained soil; drought and heat tolerant

Coldest zone: 4 (though customers have reported growing this successfully in Winnipeg and Saskatoon, two very cold cities in Canada) (find your zone; further info on plant hardiness)

Partner with: Ajuga reptans 'Atropurpurea', rock garden plants, purple-leaved plants

Suggested uses: rock gardens; mass-planted
