Poa chaixii - Forest Bluegrass, Broad-leaved Meadow Grass

A beautiful woodland grass from central Europe. The foliage emerges folded and then opens flat. The shiny light green leaves look almost irridescent. In the right locations and with deep rich soil, the 20" long foliage can look quite tropical.

It is particularly attractive when in bloom with flowers that can reach a meter (40") or more in height.

This plant is a grass for shade or semi-shade and may need extra water during the driest time of the year.

Description: cool season; clump forming
Foliage - shiny light green; 10mm (3/8") wide blades; 25-50cm (12-20") tall
Flowers - June-Aug, 60-100 cm (24-40")

Ideal conditions: shade to part shade; rich deep soil with ample water in hot, dry, sunny sites
