Koeleria pyramidata - Prairie June Grass

aka Koeleria cristata or Koeleria macrantha

June grass is grown for its attractive foliage. Adding interest to the otherwise barren landscape found under tall pines or enhancing a spot in a rock garden, Koeleria is often the right choice for a difficult location.

Prairie June grass has nice foliage and fantastic flowers, which are excellent in dried flower arrangements.

Description: cool season; clump forming
Foliage is light green; narrow blade width; 5-20 cm (2-8") in height
Flowers in June through Sept; 30-50 (12-20") tall

Ideal conditions: full sun; wide range of soil from sand to heavy clay; well drained soil with ample water to become established. After it is established it is very drought tolerant.
